ZANESVILLE, Ohio- One local foundation is requesting scholarship applicants.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) has scholarship deadlines approaching, but a lack of applicants.
Katie McCarty, MCCF Educational Assistant, said they have not received any applicants for many of their available scholarships.
“I don’t know if it’s procrastination on the students part of if it’s just that students don’t think that they’re eligible, or what it might be, but we encourage anybody who thinks that they might be even close to being eligible to go ahead and apply,” said McCarty.
She said that if the scholarships are not awarded this year, then the funds will not be put to use.
“We would much rather see students utilizing the dollars now, we want to try to help the students in Muskingum County to go to college. We want them to not have as much debt, ” said McCarty.
The requirements and scholarship applications are available on their website, but McCarty said she encourages students to call, email or stop in if they have any questions.
“Anything we can do to try to help them, we want to, but they have to take the initiative and they have to get started on it,” said McCarty.
