ZANESVILLE, Ohio- One chain restaurant is celebrating the first day of spring with a cool treat.
Monday was ‘Free Cone Day’ for Dairy Queen restaurants nationwide. Customers were able to enjoy one complimentary small vanilla cone in hopes of a contributing donation to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Jim Meier, Manager of the Dairy Queen on Maple Avenue, said this fundraiser is a great kick-off to the spring season.
“It’s a sponsorship that the Dairy Queen Corporation has had for years and years,” said Meier. “Really, you can’t think of a better cause to donate to.”
He said that though the store doesn’t see an increase in sales, they certainly see an increase in customers; all to help support a great cause.
“I mean you think about sick kids, where do they go? They go to the hospital. Personally, I can’t think of a better cause to help. I know we all have our own problems but when you’re little and you’re that sick and you have to be in the hospital, I mean anything we can do would be great,” said Meier.
Donations were not necessary to receive a cone.
Dairy Queen’s next Children’s Miracle Network promotion will be ‘Miracle Treat Day’ in July, where proceeds of Blizzard sales will be donated to the cause.
