New Concord, Ohio- A local radio station is giving back to the community next weekend.

Muskingum University’s radio station WMCO will host their 10th annual WMCO weekend from March 23rd to the 25th at the College. Station Manager Lisa Marshall explains this years first event.

“The first one is Friday march 24th and it is an animal adoption event co-partnering with the Muskingum County Animal Shelter and so they are going to be brining dogs from 11 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon.”

Program Director of WMCO Marty Kurtz discusses this years second event.

“So Saturday’s event is the Columbus Zoo they are coming here and they are doing their animal encounter program so basically what it is a 45 minute educational program where they are going to have smaller zoo animals.”

Marshall notes the events are free but donations raised will go to benefit local charities.

“The first year we selected three charities that we have stuck with and those are the Muskingum County Animal Shelter, the American Red Cross and Operation Feed which partners with Mid-Ohio Foodbank and in the first nine years we have collected 3,600 dollars and 2,400 pounds of food.”

Marshall and Kurtz thank the students and community for their continuing support. For more information you can visit their website at www.orbitmediaonline.com
