Kidzville Rebuild still in need

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Kidzville rebuild is officially 13 days away and the rebuild crew is still in need of volunteers to work.

The rebuild is happening May 31, 2017 through June 4, 2017 with 160 volunteers needed to work all three shifts each day. The three shifts are 8:00 A.M. – noon, 12:30 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., and 5:30 P.M. to dark. Hobson said they have two shifts full, but the 5:30 P.M. to dark shifts are still in need of volunteers.

“This coming Monday May 22, 2017 we have a meeting with the design team,” Hobson said. “We have to give them those numbers. ‘Hey we have all the tools, we have all the food, we have all the people’ and they’re ready to travel. To come to Zanesville to see us to help us do this community project. So it’s very important we have those names on the line.”

Hobson said one young man about two months away from being deployed for basic training told the Kidzville Rebuild committee that his parents use to take him to Kidzville as a child. That young man is now saying thank you by signing up to work twelve hours everyday of the rebuild.

“He wants to give back to the community, he’s about to give back to his country, now he wants to give back to his community right before he’s being put into military,” Hobson said. “You know that’s the heart-felt, that’s the community action we’re looking for. You know things like that give us goosebumps.”

Hobson also said they’re still in need of tools especially drills, wheel barrows, rakes, shovels, and levels. For an updated tool list, how to donate or volunteer click on the link to the Kidzville Rebuild Facebook page.
