ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project has announced their featured artist for the Month of June.
Nora Daniel has been in the art scene since she moved to Zanesville about 12 years ago. Daniel specializes in oil paintings of landscapes, and her latest work features local scenes which she painted in a technique called plain air.
“This show is essentially all Ohio, portraits of Ohio landscapes. Most of them were done in plain air, that’s how I work, which means you paint outside you are not working from photographs.”
Daniel said she tries to convey the beauty of these sights in her own interpretation.
“I try to express that through the colors that I see and interpret as well cause some people talk about being objective and painting things just as they are but everything is as every individual interprets it subjectively.”
Daniels’ art can be viewed as part of the First Friday Art Walk June 2nd in the ZAAP Gallery on Main Street in Downtown Zanesville.
