ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The downtown Zanesville block party had games such as corn hole and a dunk tank. There was also food and live music.

Music director Jim McLaughlin said the block party is only possible because the multiple churches in the area work together.

“It makes it an easier burden when the four churches work together,” said McLaughlin. “Each one takes a portion of it.

The four churches are Central Trinity United Methodist Church, Immanuel United Church of Christ, Union Baptist, and Trinity Lutheran. McLaughlin says the block party is just another way to bring the community together.

Let them know that we are all the same people, were the same community and we want to reach out to each other in friendship and love.

McLaughlin said he’s thrilled the event went well, and something that stood out to him was the kids being educated about fire safety.
