ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundations is accepting applications for new members.
The CYF focuses on community service and is a grantmaking organization. All high school students are encouraged to apply but, there will be preference given to freshmen and sophomores.
“It’s community service and grantmaking,” said CYF Advisor Juliet Lacy. “I think one of the highlights is it’s an opportunity to network with students from all seven high schools in Muskingum County. It gives students an opportunity to get to know and work with their peers from other schools.
Last year CYF graduated several of their 80 members. Those selected, will distribute grants to youth service groups and select local scholarship winners. Lacy said this program allows high school students to help each other.
“The youth foundation exists to help youth in the community,” said Lacy. “The high school students it gives them an up-close look at some of the issues youth are facing in the community. So, they are able to help their peers.”
You can apply on the MCCF website. The deadline to apply is September 22nd. For more information contact Lacy at 740-453-5192.
