ZANESVILLE, Ohio- An area business is being honored by the state for serving those who once served us.
The Ohio Department of Veterans Services presented Auto Zone Distribution Center with several veteran challenge coins for their commitment to the veterans community.
“It’s a military friendly coin and we present those to businesses who seek out hire and retain veterans across the state they sign up for and work with the state offices to get veterans to come here and work. so we celebrate companies like auto zone all around the state when we get the opportunity to say thank you for working to hire and retain veterans. ” said Director, Chip Tansill.
The event came as a surprise and honor for the employees of Auto Zone including veterans who were given coins marking a celebration of their service and transition to the civilian workforce.
“It was a great honor we were really thrilled to find out. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us. we really enjoy hiring veterans. We like helping them out and helping out in the community. So I guess it was just a great honor. ” said Human Resource Advisor, Shaye Wensyel-Jones.
Jones added that the Auto Zone Distribution Center will be present at the Muskingum County Welcome Center Job Fair on October 21st from 2 to 5 where the first hour will be dedicated to hiring veterans.
