ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local fundraiser is taking a ‘Slice of Zanesville’ to support Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation’s research.
WHIZ Meteorologist and organizer of the event Phil Sakal said the third annual ‘Slice of Zanesville’ will gives locals the opportunity to learn about Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
“Crohn’s and Colitis is kind of one of those silent diseases a lot of folks aren’t familiar with,” Sakal said. “A lot of digestion problems occur with Crohn’s and Colitis. Hopefully we’ll get more word out there to hopefully combat more of the problems we’ve been experiencing in the last couple years. As it is increasing in diagnosees across the country.”
According to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation 1 in 200 Americans have an Inflammatory bowel disease. So ‘Slice of Zanesville’ will inform those who are interested, while also providing fun activities for the family.
“We’ll have a bunch of pizza from different places around the area, we’ll have live music with Mr. Matt Frampton, we’ll have some donuts from Donald’s Donuts, and also some salad for you,” Sakal said. “So a great evening for family. We’ll have a bunch of other activities some face painting, I guess caricatures will also be there as well, and I think we’re having a pumpkin decorating contest. So definitely a great family event.”
‘Slice of Zanesville’ is Tuesday October 17, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the evening at Saint Thomas Aquinas Activity Center located at 139 North 5th St. Zanesville, Ohio.
