GRANVILLE, Ohio — The top girls basketball players in the state took the floor at Denison University on Friday night for the North-South All-Star game. In the end, the South edged the North by a final of 95-93.
Two area girls represented their respective schools for the final time on Friday night.
Cambridge senior Lilly Ritz suited up for the South All-Stars. Ritz, who was the East District’s Division II Player of the Year, was also named First Team All-Ohio. Ritz has competed in three all-star games since the season ended and was named the MVP of the District 12 All-Star game back on April 6th.
Ritz scored 15 points for the South team in her final competitive high school game Friday night. She committed just two days ago and will now head to California University of Pennsylvania to continue her basketball career.
Philo’s Destiny Hutcheson was also a member of the South squad on Friday night. Hutcheson was named All-MVL and was Honorable Mention for the All-Ohio team. She, just like Ritz, was a 1,000-point scorer in her high school career, and has also competed in three post-season all-star games. Hutcheson shined in the Muskingum County-Licking Valley All-Star game scoring 21 points on March 18th.
Hutcheson scored 8 points in the South team’s victory on Friday. She will also continue playing basketball at the next level as she is West Liberty University bound where she will play for the Hilltoppers.
