Preparing for Winter Weather

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – We have officially made it through the first snowfall of 2019.

The snowstorm hit the area hard and with that came accidents and injuries. There are a variety of de-icing products available to better prepare your home or business for future ice and snow.

“The best thing you can do is prepare ahead of time. With shovels, Shovel your way out. If you got ice then you can use either rock salt or ice melt. The ice melt is better for concrete than the rock salt. Rock salt also tracks worse,” Baldwin said.

At the Sunrise Do It Center, they have different options to choose from, including a pet-friendly ice melt for driveways and sidewalks. Manager at the East Pike location, Dennis Baldwin, said the best way to de-ice is to remove most of the snow first before putting down the product.

“You can put some of this down ahead of time and it’ll kind of help as it’s coming down but after a certain point, you’re going to have to get rid of some of it and probably apply it again. As far as having it, most people probably put it off until the last minute but it’s nice to have it ahead of time in your garage or in your basement or wherever is handy for you,” Baldwin said.

If you have any questions about what types of de-icing products the Sunrise Do It Center provides, you can head to their website or call the store at (740) 452-0222.
