Clara B. “Barney” Tharpe (June 26, 1922 – July 7, 2014)

Clara B. “Barney” Tharpe, 92, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:50 PM Monday July 7, 2014 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice.
She was born June 26, 1922 in Perry County, Ohio the daughter of the late John A. and Isabell West Beatrice. Clara graduated from Moxahala High School in 1939. She retired from Ohio Bell in 1980 after nearly 35 years of service. Clara was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Weselyan Circle and Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving Clara are daughters: Susan (Bob) Melsheimer and Randi Hoover both of Zanesville, grandchildren: Brad (Lisa) Melsheimer, Abbey Jo Melsheimer, Bryan (Abby) Melsheimer, Justin Glew and Dylan Glew, great grandchildren: Madelyn Melsheimer, William Melsheimer, Camryn Melsheimer, Calyn Melsheimer and Klayre Paulk and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband: William S. Tharpe who died in 1994, brother: John A. Tharpe and sisters: Mildred Buty and Mary Lou Musick.
Visitation for Clara will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday July 10, 2014 and 10:00 AM till time of service at 11:00 AM Friday July 11, 2014 at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. with Rev. Dean Cole officiating. Committal service will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in memory of Clara may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Genesis Hospice.
