Even all the rain this morning couldn’t dampen the hearts of these volunteers. Volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, Genesis Healthcare Systems and Pro Muskingum were busy doing good deeds around Zanesville today. The volunteer group arrived bright and early, the group then split in two. One group went to Chap’s run for a clean up and the other gave some attention to a Habitat for Humanity house located at 1362 Wheeler Rd. Volunteers were busy powerwashing the outside of the home, cleaning gutters and painting inside rooms. This is just one of the homes owned by Habitat for Humanity, which provides housing assistance for low to moderate-income families. Volunteers at the home are hoping their help makes the community even better. The Chap’s Run Group, which had about 60 volunteers, was busy cleaning away overgrown brush and trees in the park. Neighbors have long since complained the overgrowth has aided illegal activity in the park. Volunteers are hoping by clearing away some of the brush, it will help the neighborhood. This is just one of the many workdays that will be at Chap’s Run. After the brush is cleared, the group hopes to plant flowers and the city of Zanesville is going to install lights. The clean up at Chap’s Run is part of Pro Muskingum’s Code MC Initiative, which is trying to clean up drug problem areas in Muskingum County.
