Muskingum County Law Enforcement observed a moment of peace today for fellow officers who have died in the line of duty. The Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary held its 10th Annual Peace Officer Ceremony today. The ceremony honored and remembered fallen officers Irvin Tate, who died in 1939; Henry Ritchason, who died in 1954; and Michael Lutz, who died in 1994. Zanesville Police Chief, Eric Lambes was the feature speaker. He talked about the importance of remembering not only the fallen officers, but also their families who are left behind. He also talked about how the job has become increasingly dangerous. Other speakers commented on how officers are the true heroes of society. The FOP Auxiliary is asking for the community to show support for police officers by displaying a blue light outside your home or in a window next week.
