Mom’s sat at the head of the table today. The Washington Township Fire Department had their annual chicken barbecue. The dinner has been a tradition since 1967. Not only is it an opportunity for moms to have a nice meal with their kids, but all the money raised from the meal goes to help with special activities for the volunteer firefighters, such as an annual banquet in their honor. The meal cost is six dollars and each year the fire department has to prepare for more guests. The department prepared 1500 chicken halves for this year’s barbecue, which started at 11 a.m. At 1:00, they only had 200 left.
