Some local residents may be able to stop depending on their wells for water in the future. Based on requests and petitions, Muskingum County Commissioners are planning on extending water lines for residents in Gaysport, Chandlersville and along Adamsville Road. The county is trying to get $500,000 of grant money to help fund the cost of the Chandlersville project, which is around $1.6 million. With the help of grant money, cost to consumers will be more affordable with a one-time $500 tap fee and an average monthly bill of $30 per household for 45000 gallons of water. The cost of the Gaysport project is $800,000 and $500,000 for the project on Adamsville Rd. Construction for these two projects will begin by the end of the year. The Chandlersville Road project will be the last project to begin, as it will take at least a year to finalize the grant.
