The economy looks good for local businesses. The quarterly Economic Forecast Survey, issued by the Zanesville Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce says 90% of local businesses expect their sales to increase or stay the same. Seventy percent expect their prices to remain the same and 28% expect to hire more employees. Although the national economy has seen some downturn, the chamber feels it’s over-exaggerated. About one-third of the businesses surveyed, responded to the questionnaire. These results are a good indication that the economy is stable and there’s no need for cutbacks. The stable economy is also apparent in the unemployment rate for Muskingum County, which is currently 5.7%.
