Senior citizens show they can still run with the torch as they participate in Senior Olympics. The Zanesville YMCA is sponsoring the Annual Senior Olympics this week. Activities include a euchre and bridge tournament, armchair volleyball, outdoor activities at the YMCA and today, seniors competed in a bowling match. There are more seniors in the population than ever before and the YMCA feels it’s important to encourage active lifestyles for seniors. Active lifestyles not only help seniors live longer and fight depression, but also help against diseases such as arthritis.
On Friday, the YMCA will honor the 150 Olympic participants at an awards ceremony at the Genesis Fitness Trail.
