New evidence in an eight-month murder trial may or may not help a man behind bars. Robert Davis Jr., was charged with the murder of Burkey Jackson Jr. after a bar fight on Oct. 28 at McCarty’s Bar on W. Main St. in Zanesville. Initial investigations showed that Jackson died after David hit him in the head with a pool cue. But, final autopsy reports show Jackson actually died of a brain aneurysm. The murder trial is scheduled to begin on June 5th and Muskingum County prosecutors are working with the new evidence. The prosecution feels the physical fight could have led to the burst of the aneurysm. The prosecution plans to have professionals on trial to support their arguments. If convicted, Davis could get up to life in prison.
