Attorney General Betty D. Montgomery announced Wednesday that Ohio consumers that purchased disposable contact lenses may be eligible to receive cash rebates on future lens purchases and eye exams. The above settlement is a result of a lawsuit filed by the Ohio Attorney's General office against Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
The lawsuit claimed that disposable contact lens manufactures had allegedly made agreements with certain Optometrist and the American Optometric Association to restrict the availability of replacement lenses only through eye-care professionals.
While Johnson & Johnson denies participating in any agreements with the American Optometric Association and certain Optometrist, it has guaranteed that it will distribute at least 30 million rebates to consumers.
