Genesis Healthcare will soon be able to service even more heart patients. Since October, when Good Samaritan opened its first heart-catherization Lab, they have been busy providing heart care. They have performed 60 open-heart services, 180 angioplasties since January, and 600 catherization cases since January. They are opening a 3rd catherization lab next week. Genesis heart services is growing so much they’re even thinking of looking for more space. The success of the program has been tremendous, as they have seen good statistics on quality indicators such as mortality rates and returns to the OR. Currently there are seven cardiologists on staff and the hospital is going to hire three more. In addition to providing top quality healthcare, the hospital said another benefit for the community is heart patients no longer have to travel to Columbus hospitals for care.
