Two days of searching and a parent’s worst nightmare finally comes to an end. Fifteen year old Robert Allen and ten year old Luke Medaris, who have been missing since Sunday turned up at the Salvation Army on Putnam Avenue a little after eight this morning.
The sheriff’s department had been looking for the boys since late Sunday evening when their parents said they didn’t come home from playing in the woods behind their houses.
Emotionally drained, the boys told WHIZ when they tried to come home after Sunday’s thunderstorm, they got lost in the woods and couldn’t find their way. However, the Sheriff’s Department told WHIZ that Allen had run away from home several times before and in this case, most likely, the kids weren’t lost. Detectives said they were planning to go to Columbus and see a friend. Over the past 2 days, the kids spent time at Kidsville and the railroad tracks nearby, they also were spotted at Muskingum Iron and Metal on Maysville Pike. During the evenings, they slept near the 6th Street Bridge. The parents of the boys are just happy the nightmare has ended. The County Juvenile Prosecutor will continue to investigate the case.
