Riding a wild Mustang, while seeing the countryside sounds like a scene out of an old Western, but that picture is very real for Lisa Wood and her Mustang, Shawnee. The two left San Diego on March 2nd and have been traveling across the U>S>--currently they’re in Zanesville. Lisa plans to write a book after her adventure with Shawnee called “Mustang Journal.” In it, she will most likely include details about her difficult travels through the desert. This is the second trip on horseback for Lisa, her first was in 1993 when she road up the West Coast on her Quarterhorse. Lisa wrote a book about that trip called “Chasing The California Dream.” She said she likes experiencing new things and staying with different families along the way. She and Shawnee pack very lightly and travel about 20 miles a day, and Shawnee never gets tired. Lisa and Shawnee will finish their trip in Virginia. Afterwards, Lisa will return to her job at the environmental services Department in San Diego.
