A vacation getaway can turn into an educational opportunity and a chance to win a prize. The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, along with Chambers from all over Ohio are holding an essay contest titled “What I learned This Summer.” The contest is designed to encourage families to take educational trip and learn about Ohio. It is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Travel and Tourism and essays must be about one of the places listed by the department. Locally those places include The Wilds, The Zane Grey Museum, Lorena Sternwheeler and the Muskingum River Parkway State Park—to name a few. All entries must be turned in by July 31 and they can’t be longer then 250 words. There are three levels of competition, elementary, middle school and high school. The first place prize is a weekends trip for four somewhere in Ohio. For essay applications and information call the Chamber at 455-8282.
