Good Samaritan is Applying to Become a Certified Trauma Center

Months of renovations at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital may result in the Hospital becoming a certified trauma center. The Hospital will be ready to open their new addition this Friday, which includes two large trauma rooms. With the capability to service an entire group of trauma victims, the Hospital is applying to become a certified trauma unit. The Hospital is applying to be a certified trauma unit. The new addition also includes more patient waiting rooms, cardiac bays, an orthopedic room, a sexual assault exam room, discharge rooms and an ER that’s twice the size of the old one. Hospital officials are hoping the enlarged space and extra staff will help reduce waiting time in the ER. In response to the increased number of drug-related and gang violence patients, the Hospital has also installed metal detectors and hired 24-hour security officers for the ER.
