School supplies are already out on store shelves and McDonald’s is partnering with Muskingum County Children’s Services to collect school supply donations for area foster children. There are 60 foster kids in Muskingum County and items needed vary depending on grade level. Children’s Services said elementary students need boxes to keep their supplies in and lunch boxes. Older kids need backpacks. Other school supplies that are needed include crayons, pencils, pens, ruler, folders, notebooks, paper and glue. Children’s Services said they continue to use the donations all year round for when kids run out of supplies and also for kids who are placed in foster care after the start of the school year. This is the 8th year McDonald’s has participated in the program with the county. People can drop off donations at the McDonald’s on East Pike, West Pike, Maple Avenue, Maysville and the McDonald’s in Wal-Mart.
