On Wednesday July 25, 2001, the Muskingum County Center for Seniors at 200 Sunrise Center and the Salvation Army at 515 Putnam Avenue entered into an agreement with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank in Columbus, Ohio to distribute USDA Commodity Food to the seniors of Muskingum County. The USDA commodity food program packages will consist of 30 to 35 pounds of food per family per month. The content of the packages will vary month to month, but will generallycontain cereal, canned meat, evaporate milk, dry milk, peanut butter, potatoes, pasta, american cheese, canned fruit and vegetables. A total of only two hundred qualifying applications will be taken for these packages. Applications will be taken at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors at 200 Sunrise Center and the Salvation Arny at 515 Putnam Avenue starting on Monday, July 30. Applications will be taken from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM Monday through Thursday. To qualify for these commodity food packages the senior must be a resident of Muskingum County, be 60 years of age or older and must be 130% of th eproverty level or lower. The 130% poverty level income is $931 monthly for an individual or $1258 for a household of 2. For households above 2 members an additional $327 monthly per individual will be added to the 2 household income to determine the 130% poverty level. Individuals applying for this program will need to bring proof of muskingum County residency, proof of age and proof of monthly income. Phone in applications will not be taken
