The doctor is in, and it’s a good thing too. Studies have shown that heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in our country today. To get a head start and a boost in the right direction, Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center is collaborating with OSU Hospitals. The joint project is a heart center that brings cardiology services to the residents of Southeastern Ohio. Heading up the new program is Dr. Robert Michler, Professor of Surgery at the Ohio State University, as well as the Chief of Cardiothoratic Surgery and Transplantation. His clinical expertise has drawn worldwide recognition from patients and medical institutions. Dr. Michler addressed the Cambridge Rotary Club earlier today on the new Heart Center and it’s advanced technology. Dr. Michler and his surgical team are trying to create a world-class program that’s closer to home. Cardiac Cathederization procedures have already taken place in the newly opened heart labs and in the next phase open-heart surgeries will be performed within the next year.
