It will now be easier for those families who are uninsured, underinsured, receiving Medicaid or have no local doctor to get treatment for their children. The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department now has a full-time doctor available to treat children under 21 who live in Muskingum County. Dr. Vicki Whitacre, Medical Director at the Health Department, is going to be fully involved in helping out with medical care for children in the community. She will be doing physical exams, as well as follow-ups for ill adults. Other programs with the help of Dr. Whitacre will be underway at the Health Department. Such as smoking prevention, child-care awareness, as well as dental care. Women’s care is also available, birth control and mental health programs for teens and adolescents are also now a part of the Health Department’s programs headed up by Dr. Whitacre. Call 454-97-41 for more information on these programs.
