Although a return to active duty may not be immediate, Shane Lightle, former candidate for Zanesville City Council at Large feels that it is his duty to serve where he will be most effective.
After formally announcing his withdrawal at the Muskingum County Board of Elections today Lightle is returning to voluntary active duty in the U.S. Navy due to the September 11th terrorist attacks. Lightle made his final decision to withdrawal from the race last week. Lightle says that he may consider re-entering the political scene when he is convinced that the current situation in our country is resolved. However he looks for it to be a long process. He says it was a difficult decision to make especially since it was his first political campaign. Lightle doesn’t believe he will be returning to active duty until spring or early summer. He is operations specialist and his duties will include controlling, collecting and organizing combat information. Lightle’s withdrawal leaves four candidates running for three at large seats on the Council.
