Columbus Police Chief James Jackson has been reprimanded for commented he made about disabled people. He also has been warned that any additional policy violations could result in harsher discipline. Safety Director Mitchell Brown says Jackson engaged in unbecoming conduct when he questioned the need for wheelchair ramps. Jackson made the comments during an October 5th interview with the Columbus Dispatch. He saud at the time that budget restrictions have left the police force short-staffed and wondered about the need for several expenses in the city budget, including wheelchair curb ramps for the disabled. He said that if disabled people come out of the house, they get into a car to ride. The reprimand is the only punishment Jackson will receive.
