Taft Calls On Ohioans To See And Shop Ohio

Govenor Bob Taft today called on Ohioans to see and shop Ohio first as a show of patriotism and support for Ohio and our nation following the September 11th terrorist attacks and the national economic slowdown. "This is just the beginning of our efforts to rejuvenate Ohio's tourism insudtry, " Taft said. "Ohio's future is bright, and I will continue to travel and enjoy our state and encourage others to do so as well. The Governor and First Lady Hope Taft kicked-off their third annual "See Ohio First" Tour today Friday by dining at the Dutch Harvest restaurant in Amish Country and then holiday shopping at Roscoe Village in Coshocton. They will continue theor get-away weekend in Hocking Hills. Taft hopes to encourage Ohioans to travel within the state. Ohio's tourism industry accounts for 617,000 jobs and more than 8.5 billion dollars in wages for Ohioans. Last year alone, traveler spending contributed more than 25 billion dollars to the state's economy.
