To get young girls thinking ahead about their future, a program has been developed. The ACTION-WISE program which stands for women in science and engineering, is designed to improve the attitudes of middle school age female students towards math and science related fields. A Women in Leadership Seminar was held today at the Zanesville City Schools Administration building for the Grover Cleveland ACTION-WISE members. There are 22 members of the program and 15 speakers came in to speak about their careers and how they succeeded. The most important aspects are that the young women can meet those in leadership roles around the community and hear their stories. National statistics show that young women at the middle school age stop thinking about math and science and how those subjects could factor into their future or career. The ACTION-WISE program also holds meetings and seminars on a monthly basis with local business partners throughout the year.
