It was an unexpected day off from school today for some Conesville Elementary School students. A fire destroyed part of the school’s roof. The Conesville Fire Department now says that last night’s blaze was caused by a left over amber from earlier repairs. No sprinkler systems were in place, and to control the blaze, crews had to haul water in. But the chief said that they were lucky to have caught the fire early enough. A 20 by 30-foot portion of the roof was involved, and workers were making repairs today. The school will have classes tomorrow.
