The unexpected bad weather caught everyone off guard this morning. Since it is a national holiday, many people working for the state and the city were off the job for the day however for those at ODOT, business was as usual like any other snow day. Crews were out this morning by 4:30 with salt and plows, and eighteen trucks were on duty to clear roadways. Because of the surprise snowstorm the county received, it was difficult to have the roads clear for the early bird travelers. ODOT had things mostly clear by 8 o’clock this morning but ran into a few problems on roadways especially in one area….Route 60 North. A lot of traffic was backed up with vehicles off the road and ODOT even had trouble getting through the mess. Because ODOT is a state and county service they observe Martin Luther King Junior Day as a holiday…weather not permitting.
