More answers into the fatal fire that claimed the life of a Zanesville woman. Investigators have determined the cause of the blaze as accidental. On Monday morning, 22-year old Junita Newell Harper was trapped in her upstairs apartment on Dryden Road. The duplex caught fire, and Harper called 9-1-1 to report the blaze, that unfortunately claimed her life. The Zanesviile Fire Department, Detectives, and the State Fire Marshall investigated the blaze. They have determined that it started in a downstairs bedroom and that the cause was an overloaded extension cord. There was a smoke detector upstairs, but it wasn’t properly placed on the wall, and they haven’t determined if it was even working. The victim’s father lived in the downstairs part of the home with his girl friend and their six children. No other injuries were reported. Calling hours are from 10 until 1 on Thursday, at the Hillis Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1pm that day, and the burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran cemetery in Stovertown.
