It was a sad day at Philo High School today as students were dealing with the death of a classmate. The Muskingum County Sheriff's Department says they were called to a home on Wayne Ridge Road when a mother could not wake up her son. The 15 year old boy is identified as Derrick Dressler. Major Bryan Hoover says both the mother and deputies tried CPR on the teenager until medics arrived and transported him to Good Smaritan. Muskingum County cororner Dr. Howard Marsh says there is no anatomical cause of death for the teenager. It appears to be some type of cardiac death. An autopsy will be performed in Licking County. Franklin Local Superintendant William Parret says the Philo High School freshman was a good student, never a problem. Philo High School Athletic Director Mike Ryan says all freshman boys and girls sporting events are canceled as well as all junior high games planned for thursday night.
