Two Car Accident On State Route 60 Backs Up Traffic

State Route 60 Northbound and Southbound were closed this morning about five miles north of McConnelsville. A two vehicle accident occurred around six o’clock this morning, that involved a semi-tractor trailer and a car. The passenger vehicle went left of center in front of the semi truck and the truck then ran over the front end of the car, and drove off the road into a ditch to avoid other traffic. According to the Marietta post of the State Highway Patrol it was an injury accident in which one person was transported 66-year old Sherman Carnes of Zanesville had been pinned inside the vehicle. The driver of the semi-truck, 56-year old Charles Treutner of Waterford, was not injured. Trooper Vic Knick said that the passenger vehicle weaved across lanes for almost a half mile before going left of center and was then struck by the tractor-trailer. Carnes is currently being treated at Good Samaritan Hospital and authorities there have indicated that he may have suffered a small stroke or diabetic seizure while driving. Traffic was slow until ten o’clock this morning while diesel fuel from the Tractor trailer was being cleared away.
