Zanesville City Jail Problems

The problems with the Zanesville City Jail continue. According to the Zanesville City Council, police Chief Eric Lambes has concerns over supervision in the jail. In a document made availble to Zanesville City Council Members,
the chief details the problems with the jail supervision. Zanesville public safety director Bob Brandford said he had received the packet in October and has been working on the situation. The packed contains allegations of harrassment, theft, and sex betweeen inmates and jail employees. The jail workers are currently working under at letter of understanding. It was supposed to be a temporary agreement, but now two years later the contract still stands. At council Monday night, there was also talk about how the city jail is in violation of state standards. Brandford said that he will submit a progress report to council soon, but he wants to make sure it’s done right.
