The Zanesville City Water Department has found the massive leak that has left the entire Zanesville area under a boil advisory and many residents without water at all. Officials pinpointed the leak on Lear Corporation property off Linden Avenue on their fire loop. Crews are on the scene with outside contractors trying to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Bob Pletcher, Superintendent of the Zanesville City Water Department says although things are improving, we aren’t out of the woods just yet. The boil alert will be in effect for another 24 to 30 hours until bacteria results are taken and evaluated. Pletcher is estimating that around five million gallons of water may have been lost in the leak, and he is urging residents to conserve water if they have any at all. He also added that it will take a few days to fill the towers up again after things are back to normal.
