Union organizing efforts at the Longaberger Basket Company have failed. Members of the United Steel Workers Of America have closed their office because of a lack of support. The Steelworkers were helping some employees to form a local
union chapter. It was called the Longaberger Employees Alliance. The organization had been holding rallies and meetings to try and get the needed 30 percent of the company's seven-thousand employees to sign union cards in order to get exclusive bargaining rights, but the numbers never materialized. This is the third time in the past two decades that union organizing efforts have failed at Longaberger.
