The glow from the national record setting Carr Center Cake auction In Zanesville can still be felt. Actually on Friday April 12th two major events occured...210,105 dollars was raised during the auction...a new national record...and a Guinness Book Of World Records was set by lighting 4,127 candles on a Y-Bridge shaped cake outside the Colony Square Mall as 500 people watched. The first candle was lit by Olympic silver medalist Lea Ann Parsley of Granville. The two day cake auction was broadcast live on WHIZ A-M 1240 as was the candle lighting ceremony. Some other highlights of the two events...the WHIZ cake brought in the most money at 9,600 dollars, the next cake, Wendy's Management group tallied 4,600 dollars. All the money raised stays local and is used for programs and operating expenses at the Alfred S. Carr Center in Zanesville.
