The National Weather service says it was straight-line winds, not a tornado, that caused damage in central Ohio overnight and into this morning. Meteorologist Myron Padgett says investigators checked out a report of a tornado near Baltimore, in Fairfield county, but couldn't substantiate it. In other parts of our area, the early morning storms caused downed trees in Perry county...some power outages in Licking county and some heavy rains in Muskingum county. There were also some reports of golf ball size hail in some parts of the state.
