Frequently, awards are given to students with the highest G.P.A., best athletic ability, or most community service work. Tuesday afternoon, the Rotary Club of Zanesville recognized students for their accomplishments during life. The award is known as the Phoenix Award. It is given to students who have fought adversity in thier lives, and have overcome every difficulty they faced along the way. The students were nominated by their advisors from each of the 7 area high schools. Each of the recipients deserves to be praised and congratulated. They will each receive a $100.00 check from the Rotary Club, a plaque, and the school will also recieve a plaque. The Phoenix Award was created last year; it is a tribute to truly great young people.
