Annual Poppy Days in McConnelsville will help aid local war veterans. The traditional program was started 70 years ago to help disabled and hospitalized veterans with their physical and psychological therapy. Today and tomorrow, members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #24 and local 4-H clubs are disbursing the red paper memorial flower-that was made by hospitalized veterans. Hooppole 4-H members were around McConnelsville today passing out hte hand-crafted poopy flower as a part of their community service project. It's estimated that 25 million Americans wear the poppy to honor America's dead and veterans.
