Some tense moments Wednesday on the south side of Zanesville when a gas line ruptured during routine electrical work. Pike electrical workers said they were contracted by American Electric Power to do some work on Maysville avenue, but were not aware a gas line was present.
Columbia Gas field supervisor Kim Ramsey says although there was not an emminent danger from the leak, several area residents and businesses were evacuated. No injuries were reported. A-E-P does not see any more problems at the project site and officials say they are working to ensure that this problem does not happen again.
