Six companies requested information to bid for a chance to build the new roof for the Muskingum Country Jail, but in the end only three companies submitted bids. Saup Hartley, K & W Roof and Merriam Roof all submitted bids in the neighborhood of $90,000. Traditionally, the lowest bid is taken, but county commissioners say they will advise engineers and other city officials before making the final decision. The new roof is expected to cover the jail for the next 20 to 25 years.
