A Zanesville news reporter is in trouble with the law. A reporter with the Zanesville Times Recorder newspaper could face up to 28 years in prison, if convicted, for numerous counts of deception. According to Muskingum county prosecutor Mike Haddox, 46-year-old Kathy Thompson was indicted this week on 28 counts of deception to obtain dangerous drugs. Thompson is accused of providing false information to six pharmacies in the Zanesville area over the course of seven months in order to obtain drugs such as Vicodin and Zantac. Thompson was charged after a pharmacist with CVS pharmacy on Maple avenue became suspicious of her activity and contacted the Zanesville police department. Thompson will be arraigned on Wednesday.
