Traveling along the midway at the Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair, there are elephant ears and french fry stands as far as the eye can see. But, a few food concessionaires stand apart from the rest. A handful of food vendors make appearances, not to pad their pockets but to raise money for some local worthy causes. The Muskingum Eastern Star #485 doles out donuts to raise money for cancer, the Eastern Star Home and various other charities. High school athletes benefit from the numerous stands vending foods to raise money for equipment and uniforms and band members benefit from money made off of sold sugary delights. There are more than 10 local vendors who are selling food to raise funds for worthy causes and they're spread throughout the fairgrounds. Vendors say their foods might not be as healthy as some other foods, but their stands grow healthy profits and those profits benefit the community and that's healthy for everyone's heart.
