This weekend the city of Newark is celebrating it's bicentennial and now the city has something else to celebrate. The Newark Downtown Historic District has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The area was added because of the architecture of the area including the Licking County Courthouse built in 1878. There are about 90 other buildings which were constructed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries also helping to the historical nature of the area.
